What are the benefits of ultrasonic rhinoplasty?

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is one of the most modern and sought-after procedures in aesthetic and functional plastic surgery. It uses high-frequency sound waves to reshape the bony structure of the nose with exceptional precision, minimal trauma, and faster recovery compared with traditional methods.

In this article we look at what ultrasonic rhinoplasty is, its main benefits, how the procedure is performed, who is a suitable candidate, and what results patients report. You will also find useful information on choosing a good plastic surgeon, along with answers to the most frequently asked questions.

The procedure is part of the portfolio at Royal Plastic Surgery clinic, where it is performed by established plastic surgeon Dr. Stefan Komitski.

What is ultrasonic rhinoplasty?

The technology behind the method

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty, also known as Piezo rhinoplasty, uses a special technology based on ultrasonic vibrations. These are transmitted through special instruments that allow the surgeon to shape the bony structures of the nose with exceptional precision.

Unlike traditional methods, no mechanical chisels or rasps are used here, which significantly reduces the risk of damage to surrounding tissue.

The key difference from classic rhinoplasty

Traditional rhinoplasty is more invasive and often leads to a longer recovery. It uses mechanical instruments that can cause more bruising, swelling and pain.

The ultrasonic technique allows the surgeon to work with greater control and avoid trauma to the soft tissue, which makes the procedure not only more precise but also safer.

Benefits of ultrasonic rhinoplasty

Precision and control

One of the biggest advantages of ultrasonic rhinoplasty is its precision. The technology allows detailed shaping of the nasal bone without mechanical pressure. This is especially important for patients with delicate or asymmetric structures, where precision determines the final result. The surgeon can make adjustments in real time, without risk of unexpected fractures or damage.

Minimal trauma and less bruising

Because the method does not damage the surrounding soft tissue, patients experience less bruising and swelling. This is key to the recovery period — many patients return to their normal activities just a few days after the operation. According to studies, ultrasonic rhinoplasty reduces the risk of hematomas and post-operative bleeding.

Faster recovery

Unlike classic rhinoplasty, where recovery can take up to several weeks, with the ultrasonic technique this time is significantly shortened.

Most patients notice improvement as early as the third day, and the final result begins to take shape within the first month. This makes the procedure especially popular among people with busy, active lives.

Lasting, symmetrical results

Thanks to the controlled technique, the results of ultrasonic rhinoplasty are not only aesthetic but also long-lasting.

The nose is shaped with minimal risk of secondary deviation and the need for revision surgery. This means lower costs and less emotional stress for the patient in the long run.

Who is a good candidate for ultrasonic rhinoplasty?

This type of intervention is suitable for patients who have both aesthetic and functional concerns with their nose. This includes people with a pronounced hump, a crooked nose, asymmetry, or breathing difficulties.

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty can be performed for both primary and revision rhinoplasty, when correction of a previous operation is needed.

At Royal Plastic Surgery clinic, Dr. Stefan Komitski takes an individual approach to every case, using state-of-the-art equipment and extensive clinical experience to achieve an optimal, long-lasting result. You can book an appointment directly by phone: +359 888 53 38 24.

How does the procedure work?

The procedure begins with a consultation and a detailed computer simulation of the desired changes. Pre-operative tests are then scheduled, such as blood tests, an ECG, and a cardiology consultation. The operation itself is performed under general anaesthesia and takes between an hour and a half and two hours.

The surgeon uses a Piezo instrument to shape the bony structure. After the intervention is complete, fine packing and silicone tubes are placed, which stabilise the new shape of the nose and maintain nasal breathing for the first 48 hours.

The patient remains under observation until fully awake from anaesthesia and is usually discharged the following day.

5

Recovery after ultrasonic rhinoplasty

During the first week, mild swelling and a feeling of tightness around the nose are normal. Pain is minimal and easily controlled with medication.

On day ten, the splint and stitches are usually removed. Within two weeks, most patients are fully socially active again.

During the first month, it is important to avoid intense physical activity, swimming and sun exposure. Wearing glasses that could put pressure on the nose is not recommended.

Sleeping should mainly be on the back, with the head slightly elevated. Taking vitamins and eating healthily also support faster recovery.

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is a technological breakthrough in aesthetic surgery. It offers unmatched control, minimal trauma, faster recovery and excellent aesthetic results.

The procedure is suitable for both aesthetic and functional corrections of the nose.

At Royal Plastic Surgery clinic, Dr. Stefan Komitski performs ultrasonic rhinoplasty with attention to every detail and an individual approach to each patient.

Patient opinions

"After the ultrasonic operation I had no bruising and no swelling at all. Once the splint came off, I could go out in public with confidence. The surgeon was extremely attentive." – Ana P.

"I hesitated for a long time between classic and Piezo rhinoplasty. I don't regret my choice — the result is much more natural, and recovery was easy." – Georgi F.

Questions and answers

Yes, because of the lack of mechanical pressure and more precise shaping, it carries a lower risk of complications.

The main recovery period is around 10 days, but the final shape settles within 3–6 months.

Yes, but its advantages — faster recovery, less trauma and greater precision — fully justify the difference in price.

Yes, it is even preferred for correcting unsuccessful previous operations.
