Secondary Rhinoplasty

Secondary rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that produces a more harmonious shape and normalises the size of the nose following a previous aesthetic surgery with unsatisfactory results. This is achieved by narrowing or widening the nasal pyramid and/or the nostril wings, reducing or increasing the size of the pyramid and/or the tip, reducing or increasing the projection and length of the nose, and reducing or increasing the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Septoplasty may also be performed if needed to improve nasal breathing, using a closed or open technique, with implants from the patient's own bone/cartilage used where necessary, followed by a nasal splint.

It is performed because of an unsatisfactory result following a previous nose correction, and it cannot correct structural features outside the scope of the planned intervention. The possibilities for change depend on the condition of the tissue after the first surgery and are discussed in detail during the consultation.

Secondary rhinoplasty can only be performed surgically, usually around 3–6 months after the first surgery, once the swelling has subsided and the tissue has stabilised. It is a highly individual procedure — you should choose it for yourself, not to fulfil someone else's expectations.
