Double Chin Reduction

Sculpting of the neck in the submental area, which can be achieved through liposuction, excision of fatty deposits, plication and/or resection of the underlying muscle structures (platysma, digastric muscles), and resection of part of the ptotic submandibular salivary glands. The scar is usually hidden in the natural crease beneath the chin. It can be combined with another aesthetic procedure, most often a neck lift or chin augmentation with an implant.

This procedure corrects fatty deposits and loose tissue in the submental area, but it does not replace a full face or neck lift if the underlying issue is broader skin laxity. In such cases a combination with a neck lift is recommended.

It can only be performed surgically. It is a highly individual procedure — you should choose it for yourself, not to fulfil someone else's expectations. It is a good option for you if you are in good physical health and have a positive outlook together with realistic goals for improving your appearance.

Any time after the lower jaw and surrounding tissues have fully formed anatomically, which is typically around 18–20 years of age.
