Midface lifting

What is MIDFACE LIFTING SURGERY?

Midface lifting is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging of segments of the anterior middle level of the face. As individuals age, the skin of the face region begin to lose tone. This type of lifting cannot stop the process of aging but it can improve the most visible signs of aging by tightening deeper structures, re-draping the skin and removing selected areas of fat. A midface lifting can be performed alone, or in conjunction with other procedures, such as a browlift, liposuction, eyelid surgery, or nasal surgery. It is a lesser surgery and therefore cannot be expected to provide a complete full facial rejuvenation. It is best performed on patients with limited aging areas such as the cheek – midface laxity without jowls. The midface lifting surgery is individualized for each patient. The best candidates for partial facelift surgery have a face beginning to sag in lower eyelids and cheek areas, rather than everywhere, but whose skin has elasticity and whose bone structure is well defined. This suregry will not prevent further aging and you have to discuss the procedure with your surgeon with expectations which are realistic. Surgery may be done using a local anesthetic, sedation, or general anesthesia depending on the extent of the procedure.
